Welcome to Ethical Rights

Ethical Rights has been established to challenge people, with the objective of making people think more rationally about important ethical, human rights, scientific and related issues. More people might then respect the rights of an individual and act more ethically to make the world a better place.

Some of these issues are explored in the article, Right to die should be my own, which examines why religious politicians oppose euthanasia, and further in the article, Euthanasia: the clergy and religious politicians are wrong. Euthanasia (a voluntary act) with appropriate conditions must be enshrined in legislation for those who want it, otherwise we deny individual liberty and democracy fails us. We should vehemently reject the imposition of the religious views of the clergy and religious politicians on others. Individual choice, for individuals of sound mind, is paramount. In addition, the article Our legacy for 2050, now also published in Online Opinion, considers what the people of 2011 are failing to do to make the world a better place for our children and grandchildren in 2050. The world has significant population issues, resources are being used unsustainably and we are not caring for the environment that we share in time with the future inhabitants of this planet. Moreover, the world suffers from social, religious and political turmoil. Will the people of the future consider the people of 2011 as selfish, intolerant and shortsighted?

Euthanasia

People must not die like this

Angelique Flowers was a 31-year-old writer who died in horrible circumstances.  Angelique Flowers' YouTube video provides a moving story, and a compelling case for why deaths like hers must not be allowed to occur again. If we are a civilised, rational and ethical society, (voluntary) euthanasia must be permitted. Politicians need to bring about legislative change. Euthanasia is a rational and humane cause provides a strong case.

About this Ethics and Human Rights Website

Individual human rights - Yes; Indoctrination and Discrimination - No

This website puts forward arguments that are well considered, and encourages visitors to think more carefully about significant ethical, human rights, science-based and related issues. If we can all think a little better, act a lot better, then we can go some way to making the world a better place.

The Bibbble (and the accompanying The Bibbble Companion) has been written because rational discussions have not been totally effective in changing the behaviour of people who impose their values on, and discriminate against, other people. If the world followed The Bibbble's Ethical Principles for a Level 3 Universe (EP3), the world would be a much better place.

Discrimination

Discrimination is unacceptable

Discrimination, the unjust and prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, such as women, homosexuals, and people of different races and religions, is wrong because it denies all people the equality that being a human demands. Ethical Rights will focus on highlighting discrimination in society, and calling for the elimination of all forms of discrimination.
